Tuition fees for international students vary between courses and range from A$12,900 to A$25,800 per year. Tuition fees must be paid in advance each semester. Student Union and Students' Association membership, textbooks and other course materials are additional expenses.
The Protocol on fees and refunds for international students contains the fee and refund conditions for international students.
UTS International students tuition fees by course
Application fee
A non refundable A$100 application fee is payable with all applications for study as an international student at UTS.
The application fee is waived if:
- current UTS students are applying for a second degree program at UTS
- current students at INSEARCH are applying for entry to a UTS course.
Health cover
To be granted a student visa, international students are required to take out Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC).
UTS has an arrangement with Medibank Private (opens an external site) to organise Medibank Private OSHC on behalf of commencing students. If you would like UTS to arrange OSHC on your behalf, you must include health cover payment for the entire length of your visa with your Acceptance of Offer Form and your tuition fee deposit.
Alternatively, you can make your own arrangements with another insurance provider. If you wish to make your own OSHC arrangements with another insurance provider, you must include evidence of your insurance with your Acceptance of Offer and tuition fee deposit.
If your student visa is to be extended, it is your responsibility to ensure that you renew your health cover. To renew your Medibank health insurance, you can contact any Medibank store and agent locations (opens an external site) or you can renew your OSHC online (opens an external site).
New student services and amenities fee
The Higher Education Legislation Amendment (Student Services and Amenities) Bill was passed in late 2011 by the Australian Parliament, allowing universities and other higher education providers to charge an annual student services and amenities fee from 2012.
The amendment is a government initiative to increase student support services and facilities in Australian universities.
The student services and amenities fee will apply to international students at UTS from January 2013. All additional funds raised from this fee will be used to provide students with better services and amenities on campus.
